FAQs
What do I do if my dog has been captured?
Please come to pay your fees at the Town Hall and contact the Animal Control Officer to arrange a pick-up.
Bring receipt of your payment of fees with you to pickup your dog at the Holding Facility located at 1 Pinew.
Do I need a dog tag?
Yes, you need to purchase a dog tag. They can be purchased at the Town Hall.
If your dog is intact the tag is an annual purchase.
Bring proof of your dog being spayed or neutered to purchase a lifetime tag.
What does tagging your dog get you?
Your dog tag registers your dog to you and your address. If your dog is caught, you will be contacted. If your dog is caught without a tag, we won’t know who the dog belongs to and there will be added fees to getting your dog back including purchasing a dog tag. Should we hold the dog for longer than described in the by-law, we can also transport your dog to a rescue or adopt it out to a new owner.
How do I know if my dog has been captured?
Contact the Animal Control Officer or check our Animal Control Facebook page to see if your dog has been posted. If your dog has been captured and it has a dog tag, the Town of Moosonee will contact you.
What should I do if my dog has runaway from my yard/leash/house?
Contact the Animal Control Officer to let them know that your dog is loose and you are searching for them. Provide a description in case of capture.
